The Jr. Kindergarten program at Cornerstone Christian School provides students with a strong spiritual, academic and social foundation and promotes a love of learning in our students. Everything we do in the classroom starts with Jesus and then we add the academic and social skills. We strive to teach our students that Jesus loves them and we should show that love through our thoughts, actions and daily routines. Our goal is to reach for excellence in everything that we do. Our program allows students to investigate their interests, make new friends, play, learn about age-appropriate concepts and interact with teachers in a way that challenges and extends their thinking. Students progress onto Kindergarten with a strong spiritual, academic and social foundation to build upon.

Students entering the Junior Kindergarten program must be:

  • Four years old by the first day of school
  • Potty trained

In our program your child will:

  • Recognize letters and letter/sound associations
  • Write his/her name
  • Recognize and sequence numbers 1-30 or higher
  • Write letters and numbers with proper form
  • Add with objects
  • Decode and sound out words
  • Memorize sight words
  • Develop social and interpersonal skills
  • Develop reading comprehension skills
  • Explore and predict through science
  • Learn through music
